Fruit and vegetable preservation course to provide employment to women in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 13 (ANI): A year long course in fruit and vegetable preservation has been introduced with the aim of providing employment to women in the Kashmir valley.

Superintendent ITI (Industrial Training Institute) of Charar-i-Sharief Mohsin Ali said the availability of raw material made the course was perfect for girls from the valley.

Bushra, a student said on Monday that the course was helping them to learn new ways to preserve fruits and vegetables.

Shazia another student, said she thought this was the best course for girls, as it allowed her to work at home as well.

The course also provides these girls the knowledge and tools required to set up their own small-scale units and provide employment to others.

Besides attending lectures these girls are also being trained in the handling of different machinery used for food preservation in the industry. (ANI)
