New Delhi, April 28 (ANI): Leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters staged protests against the inflated electricity and water bills in the national capital, and also submitted complaint letters to the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday.

Kejriwal said that he had received a call from Shiela Dikshit earlier in the day stating that she was ready to receive the protest letters signed by Delhi residents on the power issue.

"The people have written in their letters, that they can no longer pay electricity and water bills. These bills are being inflated because of corruption. So either Sheilaji should reduce them and or else the people will stop paying their bills," said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal and his fellow party members along with scores of supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar, and raised anti- government slogans over the issue.

The anti graft crusader said that if Dikshit does not take any action on these letters then she would face the consequences in the next state polls that are due in November this year.

On April 01, Delhi Police had thwarted a protest rally that was taken out by the activists of AAP when they had intended to submit over 80,000 letters of grievances by the residents of Delhi in the eastern neighbourhood, over the inflated electricity bills.

Kejriwal also fasted for 14 days at the house of a resident in New Delhi, who reportedly received inflated power bill.

According to Kejriwal, the house owner had to borrow money to pay his water and electric bills, which were, inflated figures at the behest of the Delhi state government. (ANI)
