New York, Wed, 10 Apr 2013 ANI

New York, April 10 (ANI): A woman robbed a Michigan bank by threatening she has a bomb in her bag, which was actually cans of pasta sauce.

The suspect, described as heavyset and about age 60, fled with the stolen cash from the Fifth Third Bank branch in Macomb County's Clinton Township, which is 15 miles northeast of Detroit, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Cops told the New York Daily that the 200-pound prowler demanded cash after telling staff she had a bomb in her bag.

Clinton Township Police Sgt. Deena Terzo told the Detroit News that it was a closed bag, so you couldn't see into it, and no one wanted to open it.

Terzo said that the woman took an as yet unidentified sum of money, fleeing in a getaway car driven by a man.

However, when the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad arrived after the theft, X-rays showed that the bag contained two cans of spaghetti sauce.

The woman remains at large. (ANI)
