Guwahati, Apr 5 (ANI): Assam's newfound acceptance of the piano was seen at a recent concert, 'Melody of Nimble Fingers-2013.' by young musicians of the state who played the instrument with panache.

Thirty pianists from Guwahati came together to create a spellbinding musical evening.

Students of the Guwahati based piano school, Piano Kids, performed lullabies, folk songs, Assamese traditional songs, prayers and the Assam anthem at the two-hour event, which was organised at the Srimata Sankaradeva Kalashetra auditorium in Guwahati.

For the leader of the pianists, Kushal Krishna Dev Goswami, the event was an attempt to showcase Assam's musical heritage to the world.

"There was no institute in the Northeast before. We have been working together towards this since 2007. And today we have been able to achieve it," said Kushal Krishna Dev Goswami, principal piano kids.

Students in the age group of five to sixteen, all played the piano in perfect harmony, enthralling the audience.

" I am learning to play the piano and I love playing it. Some people play it so well and I want to play it like them and to do this, I practice all the time," said Tashmirisha Ahmed, a participant.

"I love musical instruments, and piano is the best and it has become my passion," added Prag, another participant.

There has been a gradual increase in the number of students who are learning how to play the piano under trained teachers. To make things easier for them, examinations are now conducted by the Trinity College of Music at Guwahati. (ANI)
