Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), Mar.29 (ANI): Tribals in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar region took part in the annual Bhairav Baba Fair this week.
The fair takes place a day after Holi, the festival of colours, and on this occasion, devotees walk on embers and also endure being hung and rotated on a 30-feet high platform as mark of penance to appease their gods for fulfilling their wishes.
It is a common belief among the tribals that Lord Bhairav Baba eliminates sorrow from their lives and cures their children of various diseases.
The general belief is that the pure-hearted get their wishes fulfilled here.
The tribals also believe that their participation in the fair ensures peace in their lives.
"When we come here, we receive peace of mind in our lives. All our sorrows are removed from our lives. We feel very happy to come here. Our families live in peace, when we come here," said Mukesh, a devotee.
Women walk on the fire embers with full devotion and this ritual has acquired significance as devotees come through the fire unscathed. (ANI)
