Varanasi, March 15 (IANS) A sadhu was arrested here Friday for trying to molest an Italian woman, police said.
Giri Baba was arrested after the woman filed a complaint with Bhelupur police here. She alleged that the sadhu tried to outrage her modesty and beat her when she told him she would complain to police.
She told police that she had come to Varanasi with a friend from Nepal. She was staying at a hotel on Kedar ghat when the sadhu befriended her.
He tried to molest her Thursday night after she refused to marry him. He has been arrested, police said. The woman had several bruises and was sent for a medical examination.
