The e-library consortium, an initiative of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), the umbrella body of 88 colleges and institutes dealing in modern science, medical science, homeopathy, alternative medicine etc., will link all the affiliated colleges spread across the state.

"WBUHS will be the nodal body that will link up with international journal publishers like Elsevier, Springer etc. to provide free access to the students. Students will be highly benefited as they wont have to pay any fee to get through the journals," said WBUHS Vice Chancellor Amit Banerjee, at a media conference here Tuesday.

Budgeted at Rs.3 crore, the project scheduled to start functioning in April, will allow the institutes to make use of the published papers and books online through a password system.

"The colleges will have their own passwords to enter the database through which students can access entire papers," said Banerjee.
