Afghan, ISAF troops detain Haqqani network's local leader

Kabul, Feb. 9 (Xinhua-ANI): Afghan and NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) captured a local leader of Haqqani network, the military wing of Taliban in Khost province 150 km southeast of Afghan capital Kabul on Saturday, the alliance said in a statement released here.

"An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani leader in Sabari district, Khost province, today," the statement added.

However, it did not reveal the name of the arrested man, saying he was responsible for conducting direct attacks on Afghan and coalition forces.

Haqqani network is the military wing of Taliban outfit which is active in the capital city Kabul and eastern and southeastern provinces along the border Pakistan.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment. (Xinhua-ANI)
