Digvijay Singh takes on BJP for targeting Shinde over his 'saffron terror' remarks

New Delhi, Feb. 2 (ANI): Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its decision to boycott Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde over his 'saffron terror' remarks, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday said the main opposition party has now become habitual of not letting the Parliament function and boycott central ministers for no reasons.

Reacting to the recent threat from the BJP to boycott Shinde in and outside Parliament, Singh said: "This is not the first time, they have been habitual of not letting the parliament function and boycott ministers for no reasons. This is not right in a parliamentary democracy."

"He (Shinde) has said certain things on the basis of evidence, and even the Union Home Secretary has publicly said that around ten people, who have been arrested in the connection of various terror attacks, are belong to RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh). The accused have also accepted that they were trained to plant bombs," he added.

Singh advised the BJP to not create ruckus and wait till the 2014 elections.

The BJP has decided to boycott all public programmes of the Union Home Minister and not respond to any communication from him to the party top brass in his capacity as Leader of the House in Lok Sabha to protest against his Hindu terror remarks till he tenders an apology.

This decision was taken in the first Core Group meeting of the BJP after Rajnath Singh took over as the party chief on January 23.

Shinde had alleged in the Congress Chintan Shivir in Jaipur earlier this month that BJP and RSS were involved in training their cadre in terror activities and those allegedly involved in Hindu terror acts were affiliated to them.

The BJP is also planning to hold black flag protests during the visits of the Union Home Minister. (ANI)
