London, Feb 1 (IANS) Children in Britain just want to be famous like footballers and pop stars and have no interest in becoming doctors and lawyers, Prime Minister David Cameron has said.
Cameron said this while meeting schoolchildren in Liberia during his tour of Africa, the Daily Mail reported.
The prime minister contrasted the ambitions of youngsters in his country with those struggling to overcome poverty in Africa.
Pupils of Anna F. Whisnant Elementary school told Cameron they hoped to be doctors, lawyers or politicians.
The leader responded that young Britons just wanted to be famous.
Asked what they would do if they ran the school, one child replied: "Open a library".
"If you ask children in Britain, all they want to be is pop stars and footballers," Cameron joked.
