Need to plant more tree to make Delhi greener: South Delhi Mayor

Mayor of South Delhi, Ms. Savita Gupta today inaugurated tree plantation drive by planting a sapling in a function organized at National Park, Lajpat Nagar-IV. On this occasion Delhi Pradesh BJP Persident, Mr. Vijender Gupta; Chairman, Education Committee, Mr. Satish Upadhaya; officials of Horticulture Department and RWA representatives were present on the occasion.
On this occasion Ms. Savita Gupta appealed to the citizens to plant maximum number of trees so as to improve the environment of Delhi. She also said that aim of the plantation drive is to make South Delhi more green and beautiful by planting more and more plants so that the whole area becomes ecologically balanced and the environment gets improved. So far SDMC has planted 30,000 trees and 20,000 shrubs and we are planning to plants 70,000 tree sapling this monsoon and nearly 2.5 lac shrubs will also be planted while developing parks ofSDMC.
Delhi Pradesh BJP President, Mr. Vijender Gupta said that all three Corporations have 14500 parks in total and are maintained by the Horticulture Department. He said that this year we have fixed a target of planting more than 2.5 lakh plants/shrubs to make Delhi more green and environment friendly. He further said that it is our responsibility to plant more trees to give more and more green areas to provide healthy environment to our coming generations. So one must plant atleast one tree for the future and ensure its survival.
