Government believes in action, not on hollow promises: Sheila

New Delhi, Tue, 28 Aug 2012 NI Wire

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has said that her government believes in action and would never like to involve itself in hallow promises and announcements. Keeping in view the spirit of providing relief to the residents of unauthorized colonies, the Government gave away provisional regularization certificates to 1218 such colonies. Dikshit today stated this while addressing a press conference in Delhi secretariat.

On the occasion she said that this is, in fact, a red letter day in the history of the Capital City. The dream of putting up in fully developed colonies in respect of 40 lakh residents is coming true. The City Government has been able to resolve the vexed issue of unauthorized colonies. Further, the fear of sword hanging over the future of the residents of unauthorized colonies has become a thing of the past.

Dikshit conveyed gratitude to the Union Government on behalf of the residents, her cabinet colleagues and City Government for adopting a sympathetic, humane and reasonable approach in this matter.

Dikshit said that our stand from the very beginning was crystal clear that not a single colony would be demolished and the residents would not be uprooted. We are grateful that the Union Minister of Urban Development, Sh. Kamal Nath has been kind enough to appreciate the difficulties of the residents of unauthorized colonies.

Dikshit stated that her Government is committed to regularize all unauthorized colonies who have submitted their details to the UD Department.

She also complemented the contribution of the Union UD Ministry in giving due consideration to the cases of affluent unauthorized colonies. We understand that the Union Government is finalizing the norms for this purpose.
