India wins Under-19 World Cup,skipper Unmukt Chand blows Aussies

Skipper Unmukt Chand's unbeaten 111led India to victory on Sunday in the finals of the U-19 World cup at Townsville, Australia making them the undisputed U-19 cricket world champions. This is India's third U-19 World Cup 2000 and 2008.

Earlier, batting first Australia made 225 runs in 50 overs at the loss of 8 and set a target of 226 for India. Though, India lost their opener Prashant Chopra for 0 but skipper Unmukt Chand and Baba Aparajith stablised the condition to a certain extent when Aparajith was caught by Turner in the ball of Sandhu. The problem for India started when they lost Vihari and Zol lost their wicket quickly and India were 86 for 3 in 20 overs. But Chand and Patel then showed some brilliant piece of cricket and led India to victory with 6 wickets remaining in 47.4 overs. Both Chand and Patel were not out at 111 (130) and 62 (84) respectively. Chand brilliantly stuck 7 fours and 6 sixes to complete his century.

After winning the toss India Elected to field first and the decision came into their favour when Aussies were 38 for 4 before Aussie skipper William Bosisto stayed to make 87 not out to give Australia a competing score.

For India Sandeep Sharma became the bowling star and picked us four wickets in his 10 overs giving 54 runs.
