Wimbledon 2012: Mahesh and Bopanna knocked out, Still a chance for Leander

Fourth seeded Leander Paes pared with Czech partner Radek Stepanek lost the third round match against 15th seeded Croatia's Ivan Dodig and Brazilian Marcelo Melo by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (2-6), 8-6. The match was interrupted by rain several times.

On the other hand Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lost the second round match to Russia's Mikhael Elgin and Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin by 5-7, 6-7 (4-7), 3-6.

Paes and Radek began playing against Ivan and Marcelo on Monday but bad weather forced the suspension. At that time Paes and Radek were struggling to save the third set. When play resumed on yesterday, they managed to up their game and pip Dodig and Melo in the tiebreaker at the end of the fourth set.

However, rain interrupted again and after the long break, 15th seeded sealed the game by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 8-6.

Leander Paes still have a chance in Wimbledon when he pared with Russia's Elena Vesnina will face Australia's Ashley Fisher and Germany's Mona Barthel in their second round match of Mixed Doubles.
