Government is committed to make Delhi a slum free city:Sheila

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has said that government has been providing facilities for organizing social functions and gatherings at commonplace in those colonies where weaker section families are putting up. Keeping in view, the need of community centre in resettlement colonies, the Government decided to construct a well-planned, spacious community centre in Sultanpuri. She has laid the foundation stone for the community center at the Sultanpuri. Development Minister Rajkumar Chauhan, Local MLA Jaikishan and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion Dikshit said that with commissioning of the new Community Hall the residents would be relieved of tensions relating to booking of banquette halls etc. for their social functions at high rates. The new centre would provide accommodation for such social gatherings at minimum possible rates. This will go a long way in cementing bonds of social relationships.
She further stated that her Government has decided to grant freehold ownership rights in 45 resettlement colonies, which came up during 1970s. Sultanpri JJ colony is one of these colonies where lot of developmental works is in progress.
The City Government is in process of granting ownership rights to resettlement colony dwellers for which a detailed programme along with terms and conditions has been finalized. Her Government is also concentrating on relocation f JJ Clusters in order to make Delhi a slum free city. Thousands of flats for JJ dwellers are under construction, she added.
