Kanwar Yatra is an example of cultural synthesis

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has said that the Kanwar camp is a unique and excellent example of Hindu-Muslim unity and cultural synthesis. She further added that this would go a long way in establishing amity and social harmony. Chief Minister today visited the Kanwaria Camps at Jafrabad, Seelampur Assembly in East Delhi.

On this occassion Dikshit stated, "we all will be able to make Kanwar Yatra successful this time also like previous years". The camps have become symbol of our social harmony. She further stated that number of organizations have been conducting camps for Kanwarias. Area MLA Ch. Mateen Ahmed and Chairperson, Delhi Urs Committee Chaudhary Salauddin were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that these Sadbhawana Camps are unique because Hindu Kanwarias going to Haridwar are being looked after and served by people from the Muslim community. She termed the camps, which are being organized for the past 13 years as an example for the people of the rest of the country. Smt. Dikshit informed that Delhi Government is also providing tent arrangements, water, medicines, doctors etc. to Kanwarias.
