Shri Vijender Gupta during the conference told that the position of water supply in the capital has been pathetic with water mafia’s stealing more than 50% of water and black marketing it. Due to unorganized system of water supply in Delhi, people in some areas do not get water for months and in some areas water is wasted. 70% of the water supplied by DJB is polluted, which has led to various water borne diseases.
Prof. Malhotra told that in its 14 years rule in Delhi, Congress Govt. has made the life of the common people miserable and people are not getting fulfilled even with their basic needs like water that represents the mismanagement and corruption of the party and ignorance of the ruling party towards the welfare of common people. The water tariffs have also increased significantly during this time which is not acceptable.
BJP has organized this "Jail Bharo" protest in order to open the eyes of ruling party to work for the welfare of people.
