India Pakistan Defence Officials hold talks on Siachen Glacier issue

Defence officials of both India and Pakistan will meet today in Rawalpindi, Pakistan for two-day talks on the Siachen issue.

Indian Defence secretary Shashikant Sharma and Pakistan Defence secretary Nargis Sethi will have crucial talks over the issue of military standoff on the Siachen glacier.

Mr. Sharma will also meet Pakistan's Defence minister Naveed Qamar during his visit.

India's Defence Minister AK Antony said, "Do not expect any dramatic announcement or decision on an issue which is very important for us, especially in the context of national security. You cannot expect a dramatic announcement from one discussion".

After an avalanche in the area killed 139 people, including 125 Pakistani soldiers, Pakistan's army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani urged that both sides should pull out of Siachen.

Siachen is the world's highest battlefield.
