India readies itself for Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone

Tech savvy and mobile frenzy have a new smartphone to put hand to as Samsung announced Samsung Galaxy S III in an event in London. Though this smartphone will be available in Europe market in the end of this month, it will only hit Asia and Africa later in July.

Samsung Galaxy S III is a 4G smartphone that flaunts Android Ice Cream Sandwich v-4.0 operating system.

Here are the specification and features of Samsung Galaxy S III.

Samsung Galaxy S III sports 4.8 inches of Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that has support of 16M colors and a resolution support of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 with TouchWiz UI v4.0 technology. It also has Touch-sensitive controls just below the display.

Samsung Galaxy S III has an Android Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.4 operating system. It has an Exynos 4212 Quad chipset generates its power from Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 processor and Mali-400MP GPU.

Samsung Galaxy S III has a quad GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and quad HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 frequency support. It has 4G LTE frequency support as well.

Samsung Galaxy S III is topped with an 8 MP camera that can take pictures of resolution 3264x2448 pixels. The camera comes with an auto-focus, LED flash, simultaneous HD video, image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and image stabilization. It can also record video at 1080p@30fps. It also has a front camera of 1.9 MP for video calling that can record video 720p@30fps.

This smartphone has a dimension of 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm and weighs 133 g.

Samsung Galaxy S III comes with Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot) and Bluetooth (v4.0 with A2DP, EDR). It also has a GPRS Class 12 (4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots), 32 - 48 kbps and EDGE Class 12, HSDPA that gives 21 Mbps speed and HSUPA that gives 5.76 Mbps of speed support.

This phone will be available with 16 or 32 or 64 GB storage and 1 GB RAM. It also comes with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. Sensors like Accelerometer, gyro, RGB sensor, proximity, compass and barometer.

It has SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM and RSS facility as well.
This smart phone comes preloaded with Stereo FM radio with RDS technology. It also has A-GPS support and GLONASS.

Output port includes: a 3.5 mm jack, micro SD card slot that can be used to increase memory storage up to 64 GB and a micro USB v2.0 (MHL USB On-the-go).
