YouTube turns 7 years old

YouTube a Google owned video sharing website is celebrating 7 birthday. Since its inception in 2005 this website has hit milestones.

YouTube announced, "Today 72 hours of video are uploaded to the site every minute". They added that like many 7-year olds around the world, we're growing up so fast.

They thanked the users saying, "All 800 million of you all over the world have shown us we're on the right track by increasing subscriptions 50 percent and watching over three billion hours a month".

YouTube was created in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. Google bought in the year 2006. It has its headquarter in San Bruno California. It has an Alexa rank 3. In 2008 YouTube partnered with MGM, Lions Gate Entertainment and CBS to show movies and TV serials on it.

Most of the video uploaded on the website are by the user who have to register first. However one can watch videos (except the restricted one that requires log in and to be above 18) without registration.

At present YouTube is the largest video sharing website. It also streams Live content like the IPL 2012. All the users are required to have Adobe Flash Player to watch its video.
