UP Govt orders to probe Maya's Noida park; alleges Rs.40,000-cr scam

Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Wednesday ordered a probe into irregularities in the construction of Dalit Prerna Sthal, Noida.

The government has alleged previous government of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati for making a loss of Rs.54- crore because of green violation in Noida Park and a financial fraud of Rs.40,000-crore in installation of statues of elephant and constructing stone parks in various places in the state especially in Lucknow and Noida.

According to sources, the probe in Noida Park would be primarily focused on loss due to green violation as this was constructed on the green belt and is adjacent to Okhla Bird Sanctuary.

Akhilesh also pointed out that the government would soon decide the form of the enquiry need to install for conducting a series of scams made by previous Mayawati government. He also informed that Lokayukta has also given a report against several persons, including ministers.

Akilesh's claim came a day after state police report that searched at the office of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (RNN) on Monday in Gomti Nagar for alleged irregularities in erection of statues of elephants at parks in Lucknow and Noida.

"As of now a few elephants have been recovered...if further investigation is done then the number of statues will be much higher. I congratulated police that they investigated the matter," Akhilesh said to the reporters.
