Yeddyurappa seeks anticipatory bail after CBI raids
The former Chief Minister of Karnataka and BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa who is allegedly involve in illegal mining scam in Karnataka is reportedly moved to CBI court for seeking anticipatory bail as the investigating team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday morning raided on his residences.
The BJP leader was looking for anticipatory bill for himself and his kin including his two sons and son-in-law.
A joint team of CBI from Hyderabad and Bangalore at 6:15 a.m. today morning conducted raids at Yeddyurappa's Dollars Colony and Race Course Road in Bangalore and his another residence in Shimoga district.
The team also raided on his sons' firm, residences and his son-in-law's residence in Bangalore and Shimoga district.
Moreover the team also the offices of JSW Steel and South West Mining Company Limited in Bellary, besides searching the house of a mining leaseholder, sources informed.
The raids came after Supreme Court's direction to CBI to register an FIR on Tuesday.
The CBI registered a case for offences under IPC including criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust besides under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and Prevention of Corruption Act.
Yeddyurappa has been accused of granting undue favours to the two firms in lieu of donations made by them to a charitable trust run by his family.
