Amethi, Mon, 30 Apr 2012 NI Wire

After the major debacle of the Congress in the recently held Uttar Pradesh assembly election, party general secretary Rahul Gandhi visited to Amethi to encourage the party workers. It is his first visit to the state after the stunning defeat of congress in the state.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi wants to encourage the party workers for a better tomorrow and he suggesting them to forgot the past. Gandhi has once again stood for the establishing the party on the grass root level and for this there is a need to encourage the party workers.

It is assume that during his three-day visit, Rahul Gandhi is likely to meet block and booth level workers of the party. He also takes part in the interactive sessions, spread across various areas, including Tiloi, Munshiganj and Salon assembly constituencies.

Gandhi will find out the reason behind the major defeat in the family bastion like Amethi and Rai Bareli, which were the strongholds for the Congress. His move is a part in finding the lost land of congress especially in such a strongholds bastion.

Of the 10 assembly segments in Amethi and Rae Bareli, the party could win only in two. The Congress did not win a single assembly seat in Rae Bareli - represented in the Lok Sabha by Congress president Sonia Gandhi - and managed to bag just two in Amethi. The SP swept the two VIP Lok Sabha constituencies by winning eight seats.
