MCD polls:BJP ahead in three civic bodies

Bhartiya Janata Party is leading a comfortable margin over main opposition Congress in counting of vote in all the three Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) as early trends shows. Congress is behind BJP in the counting for votes for which elections were held on Sunday. Presence of other parties are also seems decisive in the counting.

The BJP is leading in all the three MCD for which election was held. In North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the trends are available for the total 104 seats where the BJP is leading in 60 seats, which is likely to be a comfortable lead over Congress that is ahead on 31 seats.

BJP is also on comfortable lead over Congess where it is leading in 48 seats.The main opposition Congress party is ahead with 36, while the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has gained lead in 15 seats.

In East Delhi also BJP is leading with comfortable margin from Congress. Out of 64 wards, BJP is said to be leading in 34 seats, Congress in 20 and BSP is moving ahead on 3 seats, while independents are reported to be going strong in 7 seats.

Delhi Mayor Rajni Abbi (BJP) is leading in Mukherjee Nagar.

Shobha Vijender, wife of Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta is also leading from Rohini Central ward.

The Delhi State Election Commission has set up counting centres at 32 places across the city for counting of votes in elections that saw around 55 percent voting Sunday.

The elections will decide the fate of 2,423 candidates for the three new agencies - north Delhi, east Delhi and south Delhi.

Polling for all the 272 wards spread in three civic bodies -- East, South and North -- were held on Sunday in which 55% of the 1.15 crore voters exercised their franchise.
