Failure of govt. paralysed PDS system in Delhi: B.J.P.

New Delhi, Thu, 12 Apr 2012 NI Wire

BJP has accused Delhi Government for not taking care of the poor people of Delhi and said that due to gross negligence of the Government, the PDS system is completely paralysed.

Delhi Pradesh President Vijender Gupta and Chairman of the Election Management Committee Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra told that Delhi Government's Food Supply department is responsible for providing rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene etc. to the poor people through Fair Price Shops every month. This department has completely failed to discharge its responsibility. The people never received full quota of ration from these shops. At present the condition is such that all the ration shops in the capital are locked.

The Fair Price Shops of the capital are on strike for their various demands. It was the responsibility of the Government to consider their just demands and recall the strike. Government allowed this strike to continue for long so that the PDS system of Delhi may fail and the Government may get rid of distributing ration to the poor.

Delhi Government wants that in place of distributing ration, sugar, kerosene etc. to the poor through the shops, it may distribute cash as assistance for ration. The Government could not succeed even in this work. The number of the poor people getting ration from the Fair Price Shops of Delhi is about 20 lakh. These people are not able to fulfill the need of their family members.
