Now Facebook has to face new ordeal for its activities in Bangladesh as a court has ordered authorities to shut down five face book pages. Court has taken the decision on charge that the website has been insulting Prophet Mohammad and other religions.

The case was brought by two teachers from Dhaka University and Dhaka Centre for Law and Economics who said that some pictures on the website hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims.

According to BBC reports, Muhammad Nawshad Zamir the lawyer who brought the petition said that some pages were close to pornography and also contained disparaging remarks about the holy book of the Koran, Jesus, Lord Budha and Hindu Gods.

Zamir said that the High Court in Bangladesh has asked authorities to find out who posted the cartoons and comments online. He declined to name the Bengali-language website and said that the government has been given three weeks to report developments to the court.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that some bloggers in the country have raised concerns that the ruling is curbing free speech.
