Karnataka BJP Crisis: Yeddyurappa wants to be reinstate CM post

Bangalore, Fri, 24 Feb 2012 NI Wire

Karnataka is likely to face political crisis once again as former chief minister and Bhartiya Janta Party leader BS Yeddyurappa has served an ultimatum to restore him as state Chief Minister. He has set the deadline on February 27 and warned he would take his course of action, if party rejects his demand.

He acknowledged his demand to party president Nitin Gadkari, who is now in Karnataka for attending a two-day Chintan Manthan or brainstorming session, which is set to begin today.

A day before starting the brainstorming session, Yeddyurappa hosted a lunch at his residence for party leaders including MLAs, MPs and MLCs in the hope to demonstrate his power in the state, in which about 67 MLAs, 18 MLCs and 11 MPs attended the meeting.

Here, Yeddyurappa got mixed response, as his strong supporters were reportedly in his favour of reinstating his position, but some of the supporters were against Yeddyurappa's demand.

According to reports, the strong supporters of State Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda did not attend the lunch and those who attended the lunch only want a prestigious position for Yeddyurappa in the party.

Some media report say that some MLAs are not happy with Gowda's way of functioning as CM, as they argue that it can doom the image of the party. Some has alleged Gowda for making a hidden tie with rival party leader Janda Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) supremo HD Deve Gowda.

Yeddyurappa is likely to meet Gadkari today.

More than six months ago, Yeddyurappa was forced to resign from his post due to alleged corruption charges, however he was allowed to promote his candidate for the next CM, which Yeddyurappa had promoted Gowda.
