London, Dec 21(ANI): Jonny Bairstow, who was left out of Thursday's first Twenty20 match against India in Pune when England preferred Jos Buttler to keep wicket, has returned home early for family reasons.
Bairstow subsequently discovered during that match that he was needed at home, the Telegraph reports.
The Yorkshireman will be unavailable for Saturday's tour-ending final Twenty20 in Mumbai, having flown to England this morning.
Bairstow had been a surprise omission yesterday as Somerset's Buttler was handed the gloves.
However, the smiles were masking disappointment as England, keen to accommodate 32 year-old opener Michael Lumb and five bowlers, decided Bairstow's face did not fit. (ANI)
