London, Dec 19 (ANI): The first new web domains that would go live are expected to include names such as .mormon, .play and .food.
The results come after a raffle held by ICANN, the body that allocates web suffixes, or generic top level domains.
The proposed 'strings' will join .com, .org and others and could go live next year, the Telegraph reports.
According to the paper, companies were charged 100 dollars for each entry in the raffle, and contentious domains, applied for by many companies and organisations, were relegated to the rank of their lowest placing.
The top English string was .opr and .play, bid for by Amazon, the report said.
But as multiple applicants have applied for .play it will be subject to a review, it added.
The two entries came 108 and 109 out of 1,917 drawn from drums in a Las Vegas hotel.
Not all applicants, including Google, decided to take part, meaning their entries will be among the last to be judged, the report said.
According to the paper, approximately 100 non-Latin alphabet entries were given priority, meaning the Vatican's application for .church topped the list, followed by the Chinese for .store from Amazon. (ANI)
