Mangalore, Dec 16 (ANI): The body of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who killed herself following a hoax phone call about the Duchess of Cambridge, arrived in Mangalore on Sunday afternoon.
The body will be kept at the KMC Hospital in Manipal and the funeral will take place on Monday in Shirva, her hometown.
Jacintha's husband Benedict Barboza and her son Junal,16, and daughter Lisha,14, accompanied the coffin from London.
Meanwhile, the parish priest in Shirva village said Jacintha Saldanha's funeral would take place here on Monday.
"On Monday, December 17 at four p.m there is going to be the funeral rites. And at three o'clock the body will be brought to the church from home. And it will be kept for the public, for them to pay homage. As this news has spread far and wide, we are expecting quite a big number of people to attend this funeral," father Sandy Taura said.
The Australian radio station behind a prank phone call to a London hospital that was treating Prince William"s pregnant wife Kate had earlier said it had done nothing wrong and no one could have foreseen the tragic outcome.
There has been renewed soul-searching over media ethics after Jacintha Saldanha, 46, the nurse who was duped by the station's call to the King Edward VII hospital, was found dead December 7 in a suspected suicide.
The hoax, in which the radio hosts - posing as Britain"s Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles despite Australian accents - successfully inquired after Kate"s medical condition, has made worldwide headlines. (ANI)
