London, Dec 13(ANI): England captain Alastair Cook wants to end this year, which has been touted as one of the greatest in British sporting history, with a famous series win in India.

A Test series win in India will go down as one of the great cricket performances of all time from an England team regularly hassled by spin, and it will be the ultimate glory for a sports mad nation.

"It has been an amazing sporting year for a lot of people and it would be great if we as an England side can finish off with a victory. Having watched so much of the great sport this year and been inspired, I suppose it does give you a sense of the impact we might be able to have if we win this series," the Daily Mirror quoted Cook, as saying.

"It would be great to do it as well for the support we've had on this tour, the Barmy Army have been out in force and we've been getting plenty of messages of support from back home," he added.

"As players though we can't get too carried away at this moment in time. We're here to do a job which is win the series and now we've put ourselves in a position where we could do that," he said.

Cook added: "It has been an incredible year and these sporting chances don't come around very often in your life. We are desperately keen not to let that chance go."

"There has been an incredible amount of success and if I were choosing my top three they would be Bradley Wiggins, Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah," he said.

"I think everyone experienced the Olympics at home and I can remember playing in the Test matches and going home and watching the Olympics with amazement. I was thinking how lucky we are to be able to have it in our country, and then when we actually went to see it as well, the whole atmosphere was brilliant," he concluded. (ANI)
