Arsenal fans receive apology from club over 'poor form' of Gunners squad

London, Dec. 13 (ANI): Arsenal fans have reportedly received an apology from club's chief executive Ivan Gazidis over the team's loss of form and said that they deserve better following Tuesday night's humiliating defeat to League Two side Bradford in the Capital One Cup.

The apology comes as Arsene Wenger faced the biggest crisis of his 16 years at the club.

However, Wenger retains the total support of the Arsenal hierarchy - the Mirror understands that majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and the rest of the board are fully committed to the Frenchman, who still has 18 months remaining on his contract, the Daily Mirror reports.

According to the report, US tycoon Kroenke is convinced Wenger can turn things around and it is still felt his position should not be in any doubt despite the full strength team's quarter-final defeat by a club in English football's fourth tier.

That loss, on top of the club's worst start to a Premier League season since Wenger took charge in 1996, has seen increasing number of fans openly question a manager who has failed to deliver a trophy for seven years, the report said.

Senior stars are pushing for the manager to mix their usual possession game with a more direct approach featuring more crosses and shots, it added.

Arsenal's defenders are also understood to want more coaching to try to improve their form and Wenger's No2, Steve Bould, is claimed to want more input on the training ground, the report concluded. (ANI)
