Islamabad, Dec. 7 (ANI): A Pakistani woman has claimed that her in-laws have threatened to kill her if she continues to pursue an honour killing case against them.
Soorat Bibi claimed that her 12-year-old daughter, Saima Abbasi, was murdered by her uncle, Shakoor Abbasi, and grandfather, Bhooral Abbasi for declining a marriage proposal, reports The Express Tribune.
"Saima was drinking water when her three uncles, Ghafoor, Noor and Shakoor Abbasi, and her grandfather Bhooral grabbed her hair and started beating her. They then shot her. She died in front of my eyes," Soorat Bibi said, adding that her husband, Yaqoob Abbasi, was supporting his brothers.
She alleged that Bhooral had been threatening her after police arrested Shakoor.
Police Officer Aslam Khan said a case had been registered two months ago against the girl's three uncles and grandfather. He said Shakoor Abbasi had been arrested but "the other accused are nowhere to be found". He, however, said that Soorat Bibi had not reported that she was being threatened.
DPO Sohail Zafar Chatta said he would provide Soorat Bibi protection if she asks for it.
Soorat Bibi said she hasn't registered a complaint against the threats as she was in hiding.
"I am looking for a safe passage to go to police," she said. (ANI)
