Sydney, Dec. 6 (ANI): Australian Premier Julia Gillard tried her hand at comedy by recording a skit for a radio show warning about the end of the world on December 21.
The 51-year-old politician recorded the short video for Triple J's breakfast show, as part of their "end of the world" celebrations, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
According to interpretations of the Mayan calendar, the world is supposed to end on December 21.
"My dear remaining fellow Australians. The end of the world is coming. It wasn't Y2K, it wasn't even the carbon price," she says in the short clip.
Gillard took time out from her preparations for Friday's COAG standoff to film the clip in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The joke was a joint collaboration between the radio station and Gillard, thus explaining the mix of pop culture references and political spin.
"Whether the final blow comes from flesh eating zombies, demonic hell beasts or from the total triumph of K-pop, if you know one thing about me it is this: I will always fight for you to the very end," she said.
Finishing the video, the Prime Minister said, "At least this means I won't have to do Q and A again." (ANI)
