New Delhi Dec 5 (IANS) A day after four ICU patients died due to lack of oxygen at a Delhi government hospital, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs.2 lakh to the kin of each of the victims.

The deaths occurred at Sushrut Trauma Centre around 6.45 a.m. Tuesday when the hospital's centralised oxygen supply was disrupted due to the fault of an operator.

The supply could not be restored leading to the deaths of four of the five patients in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The government has already ordered a probe into the incident by constituting a three-member panel headed by special secretary (health) S.B. Shashank.

The trauma centre was set up in 1998.
