New Delhi, Dec 4 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday played down report of American lawmakers requesting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to continue denying visa to the Gujarat Chief Minister, saying the blessings of the people of India is all that Narendra Modi needs and aspires to.
BJP leader Balbir Punj said 'it is not even important what the Congressmen in America think about Modi'.
"If Narendra Modi needs the visa and blessing, it is from the people of Gujarat and the people of India. I have no doubt about it that people of Gujarat are going to endorse Narendra Modi on 13th and 17th of December when the voting takes place and we will know about it when the election results of Gujarat elections come on December 20," said Punj.
"The people of India also have their blessings with Narendra 'bhai' and that is all what we need. We don't care at all what these Congressmen in America are doing and saying," he added.
According to reports, a group of 25 American lawmakers have urged Clinton to continue denying visa to Modi, while asserting that his government has not adequately pursued justice for the 2002 Gujarat riot victims.
This could be seen as a major jolt to Narendra Modi, who has off late left no stones unturned in bringing his national political ambitions to the fore.
Moreover, this report has also given the Congress Party an opportunity to target Modi in his stronghold with just a few days left for the Gujarat assembly polls. (ANI)
