Jammu, Dec. 3 (ANI): More than 90 percent of the Panchayat members have cast their votes to elect four Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) from the Panchayat quota in Jammu and Kashmir.
Terming it a incident-free and peaceful election, Umang Narula, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir said: "We have got report from all the field officers that polling has been completed at all the stations. It has been incident free election and all the people in the Electoral College have come out and exercised their right to vote."
"Till now around 91 percent polling has been estimated in both for both Jammu and Kashmir regions, we will later come out with exact figure. The counting will be held on December 6," he added.
Amid threats by militant groups for boycott the polls for the panchayat quota were held after 38 years in the state as the last elections were held in 1974.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), police and armed police have been deployed with an aim to ensure security and peace during voting. (ANI)
