Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh), Dec. 3 (ANI): Police in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, baton charged students on Monday during university polls.
Elections are being held after a gap of six years, and disruptions by students of Hindu College, forced the police to launch a baton charge.
Uttar Pradesh, with a population of around 200 million, is a politically critical state as its sends 80 lawmakers to the 545-seat lower house of Indian Parliament.
Uttar Pradesh has often been dubbed as the most 'violent' state.
Its image has been tarnished in the recently due to surge in cases of rape, murders and violence.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had said that tackling law and order and fulfilling the Samajwadi Party's promises in its election manifesto would be his top priority. (ANI)
