New York, December 3 (ANI): Alex Rodriguez will be hosting one of Art Basel Miami's hottest parties this year on the day of the fair's VIP preview by possibly turning his at-home batting cage into an art gallery, it has been revealed.
The 37-year-old and Salon 94 gallerist Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn will show off his personal art collection, including pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Nate Lowman and George Condo.
Last year was the first time the Yankee slugger hosted a Basel party at his mega-bachelor pad, which includes a private batting cage in the centre, the New York Post reported.
But this time, he could be using it to find a high-flying buyer, since he listed the 20,000-square-foot property in August for 38 million dollars.
Expected at the fair this year are Sofia Vergara, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lenny Kravitz and Scarlett Johansson, who we hear will accompany artist Domingo Zapata.
A mix of super-rich collectors, celebrities, beautiful people, glamour ghouls and wannabes will fuel an ever-growing Basel party scene that annually threatens to drown out the actual art.
The dizzying mix includes a tribute to Kurt Cobain, performances by rapper Rick Ross, DJ Tiesto and burlesque diva Dita Von Teese, book signings by Donna Karan and Pharrell Williams, and fetes by labels Chloe, Dior, Christian Louboutin and Valentino, plus a "Basel Biergarten," a Chanel event with the Web site Art.sy, an exhibition hosted by Heat stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and a pingpong tourney with teams from Gagosian Gallery and the Whitney.
