Will campaign only for good candidates from Kejriwal's party: Hazare

Bhubaneshwar, Dec 2 (ANI): Veteran social activist Anna Hazare has said he will campaign only for worthy candidates from the political party recently launched by his breakaway associate Arvind Kejriwal.

Talking to media here yesterday, Hazare said that though he himself would not enter politics, but he would extend his support to any worthy candidate for the next general elections.

"I have told Arvind Kejriwal that it is fine that he is entering politics. We may have to different ways but the destination is same, a corruption free India," he said.

" I told them their candidates should be selected fairly. Not the way the other parties select their candidates. It should be found out as to how is his character, how much public service he has done, what has he done for the society so far? They should select such candidates and if I feel that they are good candidates then I shall campaign for him and bring him to office," he added.

Hazare also told reporters that the bringing of the Jan Lokpal Bill will not completely eradicate corruption, but the people can take care of that aspect through other legislations like Right To Reject.

"Now the question arises is that if Jan Lokpal comes then will the entire corruption be finished? No, it won't. Now if the Jan Lokpal that has been drafted by us comes in then we can end corruption by 60 to 65 percent. What about the rest? For the rest there is the provision for Right To Reject," he said.

Hazare had parted ways with Kejriwal over his plans to enter the mainstream of politics to tackle the existing system and even contest in the elections under the banner of a party.

Hazare had earlier announced a new team of associates to carry on his anti graft movement and had also added to this that his team would retain India Against Corruption (IAC) as Kejriwal was the one who left the group. (ANI)
