Sydney, Thu, 22 Nov 2012 ANI

Sydney, Nov 22(ANI): The number of one-day matches for Australia has been halved to put greater emphasis on the Ashes Test series next year after the itinerary for the series was revealed.

However the total of one-day games the following season will return to 10 as the 2015 World Cup approaches, with Australia and New Zealand joint hosts, and there will also be three Twenty20 internationals next summer, the Herald Sun reports.

The Ashes series will begin in Brisbane on November 21 with the second Test in Adelaide and third at the WACA Ground in Perth during December before the traditional Boxing Day and new year tests in Melbourne and Sydney, the paper added.

CA chief executive James Sutherland said the number of annual one-day matches will vary from summer to summer but expects fewer matches on average than has been the case for the last 30 years, it said. (ANI)
