Tripura man gets death sentence for killing parents, wife

Agartala, Nov 21 (IANS) A district court in Tripura awarded the death sentence to a 43?year?old man for killing his parents and wife three years ago, officials said Wednesday.

"After a long hearing, the district and sessions court in southern Tripura Tuesday awarded the capital punishment to Arjun Biswas for killing his father, mother and wife following family disputes," public prosecutor Biplab Kanti Datta told reporters.

The killings took place at Sabroom, 135 km south of here, Nov 12, 2009.

Datta said District and Sessions Court Judge Gautam Debnath termed the murder "brutal and rarest of the rare crime" and sent the case to the Guwahati High Cout for approval.

During the trial, 38 people, including the eight?year?old only son of Biswas, gave their statements in court.
