New Delhi, Nov.20 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today released the 37th issue of Delhi Statistical Handbook brought out by Directorate of Economics and Statistics.
The publication contains data relating to various socio-economic parameters in respect of the capital city, which has been presented under 23 broad chapters.
The publication will prove to be useful to the policy planners, researchers and analysts.
The handbook is, in fact, a rich collection of data relating to the prosperity and modern amenities available in the city.
This also reflects a vibrant economy and fast-improving infrastructure in Delhi.
The handbook disseminates that Delhi continues to be an attractive city due to large number of opportunities available in the city.
Briefing media here, Dikshit stated that Delhi is the second richest state in the country as far as the per capita income is concerned.
She said that during 2011-12, the figure of per capita income was .175812/- against .150753/-. An increase of .25159/- has taken place in the per capita income during 2011-12.
"The citizens of Delhi, of course, are spending leisurely but they are also habitual to save for their future needs. An amount of Rs.66567 crore was deposited in 2847 branches in various banks in Delhi. This reflects sound economic situation in the Capital city due to proactive economic policy of city government," Dikshit added.
Dikshit stated that Delhi continues to be an urban metropolitan city as urban population is 12905780 against rural population of 944727.
The overall literacy in Delhi was 86.34 percent with male literacy of 91.03 percent and female 80.93 percent. The number of families putting up in Delhi is 3340538, out of which 68 percent families are having their own houses, whereas only 29 percent are putting up in rented accommodation. (ANI)
