Jundal sent to judicial custody till Nov 21

New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) A Delhi court Friday extended the judicial custody of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack suspect Abu Jundal till Nov 21.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidya Parkash extended Jundal's custody, after he was brought before the court in the case.

The magistrate posted the case for Nov 21 to a sessions court as Jundal has been formally charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosive Substances Act and various other provisions of the Indian Penal Code, which are exclusively triable by a sessions court.

The court Oct 20 handed over Jundal's custody till Nov 3 to Gujarat Police allowing them to interrogate him in connection with the Karnavati Express blast which left 25 injured in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Anti?Terror Squad (ATS) Nov 11 brought Jundal back to Delhi.

Jundal was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here June 21 by Delhi Police after one of the accused in a firing incident at Jama Masjid ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games revealed his name.

Jundal alias Syed Zaibuddin has been charge sheeted by Delhi Police for his role in various terror activities across India to avenge the alleged atrocities against Muslims, particularly those committed during the 2002 Gujarat riots.

As per the charge sheet, Jundal during questioning admitted to his role in the 26/11 attack and disclosed that he, along with Lashkar?e?Taiba chief Zaki?ur?Rehman alias Lakhvi, monitored the 26/11 attacks from a control room set up at Malir in Karachi, Pakistan.

The police have also questioned him over the German Bakery blast in Pune Feb 13 and the arms haul in Maharashtra's Aurangabad.
