Mumbai, Nov 14 (IANS) A team of global nuclear experts led by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Wednesday completed a 16-day review of the safety practices at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station-units 3 and 4 in Rawatbhata.

The team, comprising experts from IAEA, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia and Slovenia, "noted a series of good practices and made recommendations and suggestions to reinforce safety practices", an IAEA statement issued here said.

The operational safety review team, assembled at the request of the Indian government, was led by IAEA's Division of Nuclear Installation Safety, and carried out an in-depth review between Oct 29 and Nov 14.

The team identified several good practices at RAPS which will be released subsequently by IAEA for the consideration of the global nuclear industry.

It asked the authorities at Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) to enhance actions to maintain electrical cable conditions at a high standard, identify and correct fire-door functions, and enhance certain aspects of the plant's surveillance testing programmes, among others.

On its part, RAPS assured its determination to address all issues raised by the team and requested it to schedule a follow-up mission after 15 months.

This was the team's 171st mission under the OSART (Operational Safety Review Team) programme initiated since 1982 and the first to any nuclear plant in India, the statement added.
