Whole nation to celebrate Diwali today

People all across India will celebrate Diwali 'the festival of lights' today on Nov 13. Also known as 'Deepawali', the festival is starts from Dhanteras and is celebrated on 13th lunar day of Krishna paksha of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin and ends on Bhaubeej.

Diwali is one of the most important festivals of Hindu that is celebrated all over the nation and people worship Lord Ganesha, the foremost of all Hindu Gods and Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity by lighting lamps and diyas of clay in their homes to welcome the godess of wealth in their home.

Moreover, people also associate Diwali with the legend of Lord Ram, who returned his home Ayodhya afer 14 years of exile after defeating the demon Ravana.

People clean and paint their houses during the day and decorate their home beautifully in different ways. People are full of excitement during the festival and exchange gifts and good wishes with their family and friends.

People also exchange sweets and explode fireworks to show their happiness and thus Diwali is considered to be the festival of cheerfulness and togetherness.
