New Delhi,Crime/Disaster/Accident, Tue, 06 Nov 2012 IANS

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) A man and a woman have been arrested for sneaking away with belongings of train passengers in air-conditioned coaches, police said Tuesday.

Mohammed Naushad, 31, and Moni Singh, 23, were nabbed Nov 1 from a coach in the Sampark Kranti Express at the New Delhi Railway Station, said Deputy Commissioner of Police S.B.S. Tyagi.

The two boarded trains at night and stole purses and other items from sleeping co-passengers, Tyagi said.

Naushad booked tickets on a fake PAN card, mostly under the Tatkal quota, while Moni Singh too used to travel on a fake identity, he said.

They were held after a victim lodged a complaint complaint Oct 30.

Naushad, who lived in Delhi, was illiterate while Moni Singh, who was from Lucknow, had post-graduate degrees in Hindi and Sanskrit, said Tyagi.
