New Delhi, Nov. 5 (ANI): Under sharp criticism over his alleged comparison of the intelligence quotient level of Swami Vivekanand and Dawood Ibrahim, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Monday clarified that he was not drawing any comparison, but drew contrast between the spiritual guru and underworld don.
"I have made no comparison between Swami Vivekananda and Dawood Ibrahim.
I said that if someone uses his or her intellect in the right way it is like Vivekananda, in the wrong way it is like Dawood," he told Asian News International (ANI) here.
Congress Party earlier today took potshots at Gadkari over his controversial remark, and said what reply would the main opposition party give if somebody compares Nitin Gadkari's excellence with 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Ajmal Kasab.
"I think so this is the bankruptcy of Gadkari's mind. What is the justification of comparison of Saint Swami Vivekananda to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim? If somebody will ask tomorrow from Gadkari or will compare Gadkari's mind of excellence with Kasab what reply will the BJP give," said Congress leader Jagdambika Pal.
Gadkari, who was speaking at an award ceremony in Bhopal earlier, compared Swami Vivekanand's intelligence quotient level to Dawood Ibrahim, but added that while the spiritual leader had used it for nation building the underworld don used it for excelling in crime world.
"In psychology, if we measure IQ level of people... it depends from person to person, in which area they use their intelligence. As per psychology if we can compare the IQ level of Swami Vivekanand and that of Dawood Ibrahim, then it could have been almost the same," said Gadkari.
"But Vivekanand used it in nation building, brotherhood and spiritualism, while Dawood used that in excelling in crime world," he added, while emphasizing that the discrimination between men and women on the basis of caste, religion, language and gender is unfair and that people should be judged only on the basis of their qualities.
