London, Nov. 3 (ANI): F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is offering a 500,000-dollar reward to any Formula One staff who could blow the whistle on their team if they indulge in cheating.
Ecclestone wants to introduce a budget cap, which could be 250 million dollar-a-year for teams to spend on anything to do with racing.
"An incentive of 500,000 dollars might encourage people to speak out. People within teams know if something is going on. My budget cap allows them to spend what they like on anything within that limit," the Daily Express quoted Ecclestone, as saying.
The F1 powerbroker also plans to make senior team officials and owners sign a contract which would punish them with fines of at least 1 million dollars, if it is proved they had overspent the budget, which he feels is the fairest way to curb excesses in tough times, the paper said.
"I also want team principals and team owners to sign a contract which would hold them personally responsible for cheating and they would have to pay the fines themselves. It makes people think," he said. (ANI)
