Ludhiana, Oct 30 (ANI): A fire broke out in a garment factory on Tuesday in Ludhiana, as fire fighters struggled to control the blaze and rescue those inside the factory.
However, no casualties have been reported.
Additional Divisional Fire Officer Kartar Singh said that around six fire engines rushed to the spot to douse the fire and extinguished the flames after battling for hours.
"The fire tenders reached the spot and were successful in dousing the fire, which could have spread to adjacent buildings, causing massive destruction. Around six fire tenders were deployed to douse the raging fire," said Singh.
Singh also said that that the efforts to douse the fire were in full swing and the officials would investigate the exact reason for the fire.
Flames from the inferno engulfed the building, before the arrival of the fire-tenders.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Fire safety regulations are lax, rarely implemented and not periodically reviewed in most industries across India, which results in the breaking of major fire, resulting in the loss of life and material. (ANI)
